Frankfurt-Hahn Airport is a commercial airport located in the village of Lautzenhausen, 10 km from the town of Kirchberg in Rhineland-Palatinate. Frankfurt-Hahn Airport is situated more than 130 km from Frankfurt am Main. The first stone of the base was laid by French companies in 1951 before being used by the United States Air Force. In 2014, approximately 2.4 million passengers passed through it, ranking it 11th in Germany. It is the third airport in the Greater Region after Charleroi Brussels South and Luxembourg Findel. It is primarily served by low-cost airlines. Ryanair is the main carrier operating there.
